Raising of Lazarus: Family Faith 5 & Activity!

Share highs, lows & "God Sightings"
  • What made you happy or joyful or hopeful this week?
  • What made you sad or uneasy or uncomfortable this week?
  • Where/how did you see God working this week?
Read the weekly Bible verse/story
  • Watch this kids video of the Raising of Lazarus
  • Read together John 11:25-26
    • Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
Talk about the weekly Bible verse/story
  • Are there any games or sports that you know of where you can get "out"? Work together to try and name some. What happens when you are "out" in a game?
  • Imagine those same games. How would if feel if you would be able to get back in, even if you were out? Would you play the game any differently? How?
  • This story is all about hope. Jesus says there's hope for us, even when we are feeling "out"--lost, sad, scared, worried. Jesus showed us there could be life after death! What does it mean to have hope?
  • What do you have hope for right now?
Pray your highs & lows
  • Pray any way that works for your family. Here are some ideas:
    • Squeeze prayer; one person starts. When they're finished squeeze the hand of the next person and they can share a prayer or pass it on.
    • Hold hands and pray for the person on your left ("I pray for [name], I'm glad [___] made them happy this week. I pray God is with [name] when they are feeling sad because of [___].
    • Have one person pray for everyone.
    • Popcorn prayer: one person says a quick opening, then others "pop in" with single words of things they want to pray for (i.e. "friends", "doctors", "health", etc.)
    • Say the Five Finger Prayer (image below)
    • Say the Lord's Prayer together.
Bless each other
  • Go in a circle and put the sign of the cross on the hand or forehead of the person next to you while saying a blessing. Here are some blessing options:
    • "God bless you, [name]"
    • "Jesus (God) loves you and so do I"
    • "God bless you, [name], child of God"
Activity--Macaroni Art!

In today's worship (3/29) there was a children's message about The Valley of Dry Bones from the book of Ezekiel. If you haven't watched it yet, go find it in the 3.29 service at flcamery.org/videoprint

The activity today is an oldie but a goodie--macaroni art! In the children's message we learned that God can transform us, just like how macaroni can be transformed with some water and cheese. Now, we'll transform it into something totally unexpected (kind of)...art! All you need is paper, glue, and dry pasta.

Create a macaroni (or any other pasta) picture of something that gives you Hope! It could be a cross, a heart, a sun rise, nature, family...anything!

Welcome!

Hello Sunday School Families!

Every week while we have suspended in-person gatherings at church due to COVID-19, we will be posting an at home Sunday School for families to do together. We'll let you know as they come available!

Most of the time you'll find them in the Family Faith 5 format which we have been doing quite often over the last few years. I'll also try to include some other hands on activities as well. You are always welcome to use the Faith 5 resources at Faith Ink.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Be well,
Liz
